Second Chance of Orangeburg Animal Rescue Coalition
Before & After
There was a time where Charlie, Lucy, Linus, and Peppermint Patty didn't know if they were ever going to eat again, a time when they didn't know if the pain would ever stop, and sadly a time they didn't know humans can be trusted.
These sweet pups knew the worst of mankind. Someone threw acid or boiling liquid on their backs and legs, burning them to the bones, and then abandoned them. They were found by a loving woman who spent months building their trust and teaching them how to love without fear.
Now they are happy, enjoying the spoils of compassion, kindness, love, and treats! They are lovebugs that want to cuddle. This happy beginning was all because of the Foster (Robin) and our donors!
They all have gotten adopted into forever homes and they are living happy, healthy lives.
Athena first arrived to us as skin and bones and all we knew about her then was she needed medical attention. She was named by the caring volunteer that took her to the vet. While at her stay with the vet, her personality was slowly starting to show, she turned out to be very sweet angel that was proud when receiving praises and love from the nurses and doctors. Her road to recovery was a long one and bumpy one, till she was stable enough to go home with her foster mother. At her foster home she received more love, care and attention that she deserved. Even got to experience toys for the first time and ended up keeping them close to her. Over the course of days and months, she has learned to trust and was slowly gaining the weight she needed as well. She is now a healthy and happy pup!
Athena is still looking for her forever home! If you are interested in adopting Athena, please visit the adoption page, click on the email link and ask for an application!
This is the story of Scout and Daisy!
It had been almost 5 years since we got the call, a brother and sister had until 5 PM to be rescued or else. We raced to the shelter and picked up two of the sweetest dogs. They already had a Foster who was going to adopt them as a pair so life was going to be great for these two babies...life has been good for Scout and Daisy but not what we planned.
Scout and Daisy were escape artists we tried everything to keep them in their yard...coyote rollers, tarps but nothing stopped them from getting out of the fence. Because they lived a block away from a busy highway we had to take them to our sanctuary. Getting two bonded escape artists adopted has been a challenge. After we closed our sanctuary they were fostered by a really nice man that would take them running with him almost every day...then life changed again their Foster moved out of state. So they went to live with a really nice lady but life was going to change again...illness prevented her from keeping them so they went to live with a great Foster and life has been great but we continued to try and find their forever home.
Scout and Daisy are still looking for the forever home. To adopt, send an email to cbs1008@aol.com
This story is about Ryan, a Rotti-Mix, his previous owner beaten, abused and neglected this poor baby for weeks. He was skin and bones with a padlock on his collar and heavy chains attached, the chains and lock were heavier then he was.
The previous owner reasoning for behind the abuse was that, his ex-fiance left him and his daughter, the dog was hers and he didn't have any time to take care of it. So the guy put a heavy chain and padlock to make sure it wouldn't go anywhere, he was going to get rid of him, stating. "I didn't have time to take care of him, so I just forgot him."
Thanks to Nona, Izzy and Joey's goat, Ryan was able to be rescued that same day. They removed the heavy chains and started working with him. At first they were only fostering but it fell through after a month, they fell in loved with Ryan, he loved them very much. They are helping Ryan with his fear of men, hoses, leashes and the house. Because of the neglect he went through, sadly, Ryan was infested with all types of parasites and is currently on a year long medicine schedule.
Izzy and Joey states, "He is a sweet, handsome loving boy, we are lucky Nona found him, she is very protective of Ryan. We were so happy when his picked out his first toy, a Christmas moose, he wouldn't play with the other toys, just the moose. We are currently still working with his fears and staying on top of his medicine schedule. At first he would shy away or jump at our touch, but now happily welcomes the loves and belly rubs, which are his favorite. We are blessed to have Ryan as part of our family."
This is a story about Gracie, Oliver, and Charlotte.
They were found together on the side of the road. Someone tossed this beautiful family, they all fought for their lives and learned how to trust and to learn what true love is like.
Gracie is Pitt, Pointer, Lab Mix and she is the true meaning of mama bear who defended her babies after they were tossed on the side of the road. She even sacrificed her health to ensure theirs, it was thanks to her sacrifice that her baby, Oliver, was able to find a wonderful home so quickly, but her health postponed her happiness. Luckily for her, her Foster is also the Adopt of Oliver, this way Gracie can recover from her ailments while also still being a mother.
"She's come a long way," exclaims her Foster, "and she so deserves her own happy life..."
Charlotte was also found with Gracie and Oliver, but her road to recovery was a bit different, because of what some horrible people did, she lost trust in humans... It took her foster hours to get her out of the swamp and then took months to build that trust back up, at one point it was looking grim for Charlotte and we were unsure if she would live, but miracles do happen and she is thriving with her foster family who is looking into keeping her.
Gracie is currently looking for her forever home, send in an application today to adopt her!
